The Innovation Center for Multicultural Health Initiatives

The Innovation Center for Multicultural Health Initiatives (ICMHI) focuses on improving the quality of care for priority populations throughout the United States and abroad.

The goal of ICMHI is to design, develop and deliver innovative health policy driven solutions that focus on building capacity in communities to promote positive healthy outcomes. With a focus on evidence based population health coupled with promising practices, ICMHI seeks to explore creative strategies to engage, educate, empower health care consumers, patients, caregivers and communities to collaborate to effectively with health care providers ultimately creating healthier communities.

We believe respecting one’s cultural health beliefs is essential to achieving success as it relates to population health.  To ensure such a broad approach, our team includes members reflecting the full diversity of modern American society.

The Challenge

The current public health, healthcare and social service systems require local collaborative innovatives to address the healthcare needs of people from many culturally diverse communities.  We strongly believe culturally competent and linguistically appropriate care has a positive impact to reduce healthcare disparities among the most vulnerable and culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
